Watercolour from Dark to Light with Jake Winkle

1 hour 45 minutes

Jake Winkle turns conventional watercolour theory on its head in this exciting film. Painters are often taught to start with the palest washes and build up to the darkest darks. Jake teaches the exact opposite. He begins with the darkest shapes to create a strong and rythmic composition. In this film Jakes paints four complete paintings - three in the studio and one on lcoation where he puts his techniques into practice on the spot.Jake exhibits widely in the south of England and in 2004 he was a finalist in the Daily Mail's 'Not The Turner Prize' competition and successfully exhibited in The Mall Galleries in London. In 2007 Jake's work was selected for the Royal Society of British Artists exhibition and since early 2008 he has been contributing articles about his painting style for The Artist magazine. In 2009 he won the prestigious St. Cuthberts Mill Award at the Society of Equestrian Artists annual exhibition in The Mall Galleries, London.Jake sees his work in terms of shape, colour and tone. Inspired by light and movement his paintings are a reflection of the world around him. As well as exhibitions he has undertaken many fine art commissions for individuals and notable organisations including The National Trust. In addition to his paintings Jake runs workshops and masterclasses in his home county of Dorset.
